Skip sizes

When ordering a skip it is very important to consider the type of waste you will be filling it with as different skips sizes are designed and suitable for certain types of waste.

Why you need to establish what waste you will be filling your skip with?

Is going to be:

  • Heavy waste like hard-core, bricks, soil etc.
  • Light waste like wood, paper, cardboard etc.

8 cubic yards skips are the largest skips you will be able to fill with heavy waste. The reason for this is skip Lorries are unable to lift larger skips filled with heavy waste.

Skip NO NO’s

Some waste type CANNOT be placed in a general waste skips.

  • Any electrical items
  • Asbestos
  • Fridge/Freezers
  • Batteries
  • Plasterboard
  • Tyres
  • Gas Cylinders
  • Full Paint Tins
  • Food Waste
  • Fluorescent Tubes
  • Liquid waste

There are also many other types of hazardous waste.

If you are in any doubt it pays to call the skip hire company and discuss your concerns. It is better to sort these out at the time than have the skip hire company discover some of the no no’s listed above.

Please remember that you will need to book a collection date before your hire period runs out, otherwise you could be charged extra for days you don’t need the skip for. Most companies will book this in at the time the skip is hired but keep this in mind to save yourself having to pay any extra.

If you would prefer to not hire a skip and have an experienced company like The All Clear Company remove your rubbish quickly and efficiently, then please give us a call.
