Placing a skip on Private Property

Once you know the size of skip that you require it’s time to consider where your skip is going to be placed???

Will it be off road on private property?

On the road? (Public highway)

If your skip is going on private property you need to ensure there is space for your skip to be sited. This can be on your driveway or a hard standing in your privately owned garden.

Important information

Standard Skip Lorries will require a minimum of 10ft (3.3metres) width to be able to gain access. This applies regardless of the size skip you have ordered.

Placing a skip on the Road or Grass Verge (Public highway)

If you are unable to put your skip on private or there is not enough access room for a skip lorry you will have to place your skip on the road or grass verge (public highway) outside your property.

To do this you will need permission from your local council. Most local councils will allow The All Clear Company to apply for these permits for you BUT other councils insist that it the person hiring the skip / homeowner that applies themselves.

All councils will charge for this privilege.

The charge for a skip permits varies depending on your local council and where you are in the UK.

Skip Hire Permits Application Time

Skip Hire permits can take between 1 and 5 working days to acquire.

Application periods will vary dependent on your local council and your location in the UK.

Important information

Please always take this delay in to account when deciding the dates for hiring a skip.

To ensure your skip is clearly visible to motorists at all times all skip that are placed on the public highway must have lights placed on each corner and traffic cones each end.

In most cases The All Clear Company will be able to provide these for you. Our customer service team will confirm at the time of booking.

If The All Clear Company are unable to provide these items you can obtained them from your local tool hire shop.
